Grandma's food is still in Parys: oxtail, melkkos, krummelpap and homemade pies. Plum tree restaurant is an arty coffee shop serving traditional Afrikaner food like afval, bobotie, oxtail and boerewors. Once you've been seated, you're given a Huisgenoot or Sarie from 1942 and 50's and 60's to peruse. Taking inspiration from the past, Sandra Uys have indulged her sentiment for old things. On display is an old coal stove, school lunch boxes and babies' toys passed down through the family and a 97-year old christening gown to name a few. They also host vintage parties and small weddings.
